Surprisingly, my body is tore up today. The deadlifts from yesterday did a serious number on my backside and I had major doubts running through my mind when today’s WOD was posted.
Before we examine the actual workout, let’s take a moment for this “warm up”:
- In partners
- Row 2k
- Leap frog across the gym
- 20 MB sit ups
- 10 pulls/each
Ehhh…at this point my legs were already shaking. I now understand “our warm up is your workout”– six months ago, I would been doing a cool down after that little hustle.
For the actual WOD (via NorCal Crossfit):
- 15 squat clean
- 20 toes to bar
- 800m run
- 3 rounds
This was a killer. I went slower than I would have liked on the squat cleans, but seeing that my legs were shot–the focus was on a slow, correct movement. Finish time was 26:06. Glad I got that one behind me. My motivation to keep going throughout the entire workout was the fact that I wasn’t about to dive into the Pacific Ocean and complete an extreme course like the Games competitors…If they could do that, I certainly was going to finish this morning.
Even though we can’t watch live or via broadcast, today is the first official day of the 2012 Crossfit Games. As I type this post, athletes from all over the world are cracking out a serious workout at Camp Pendleton. I’m anxious to see the results posted!
Tonight, I will be busy baking paleo blueberry muffins and packing up the car. Tomorrow, Dave and I will be doing the long haul from SF to LA just in time for the weekend events. I bet you can sense my excitement oozing out of this post. What am I going to do with myself once this weekend is over!?
Two more days…
