This week is certainly flying by, isn’t it? I can’t believe I only have two more business days before I head off to Europe for two weeks. I haven’t started packing yet, but I laid out my large suitcase and started pulling together my suits–that’s a start, right? I’ll make sure to snap a few pictures of my clothes/toiletries before they are all packed up so you can see my OCDness at it’s finest.
Couple of items that I still need to take care of:
- Buy a new camera lens – I currently have a Nikon D3100 with a 18-55mm VR lens and I need to finally upgrade my lens to 55-200mm
- Buy new face wash – Kiehl’s everything is my go-to
- Start thinking about in-flight entertainment and snacks
Seriously, how do people manage 12 hour flights without going mentally insane?? I don’t know about you, but if I don’t get a solid seven (yes, seven) hours of sleep–I’m a f-ing ZOMBIE. I can already picture my first morning in Germany going something like this:

Here’s what today’s WOD looked like:
- 40 DUs (or 90 sec attempts for amateurs like me)
- 20 DB snatches left arm
- 10 pull-ups
- 40 DUs
- 20 DB snatches right arm
- 10 pull-ups
- 20 minutes AMRAP
For some reason, I feel like a superhero when I do DB snatches. It reminds me of some type of Thor movement with his hammer:
Maybe? Anyways, I feel badass doing these with just a 25lb DB. Here’s the movement if you are not familiar:
This workout was all fine and dandy until I became lost in my sinus fog. During one of the middle rounds I somehow managed to knock my knee cap during the upward pull and boy did it hurt like a MF – it honestly felt like I hit my funny bone, except this brought me down for the count for a good 30 seconds. YEOW. I already see the knot forming…Should be pretty by tomorrow morning.
I know I’ve brought this up before, but I absolutely love the fall. The seasons are changing and the decreasing daylight is starting to become more noticeable. It also means hearty soups are back on the dinner menu. A little background for you, I grew up LOVING my mom’s homemade chicken stew and dumplings. In fact, I would request that meal almost every week during the winter. True story. Today, I still make her recipe, but only during the fall/winter seasons (plus it reminds me of coming home from soccer practice to a warm bowl of soup). Yum!
Tonight’s dinner was a surprise treat: Robb Wolf’s Slow Cooker Beef Stew
I’m telling you, this was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while and it reminds me that we need to get a bigger slow cooker. Our mini does a great 1-2 meal punch, but it’s time to step up our crock-pot game, extra-meal style.
What is your favorite fall-inspired recipe? And are you slow-cooker-obsessed like me?
