Let me just say it: I had a crummy workout this morning. The WOD owned me.
- 3 rounds for time of:
- 20 Chest to Bar Pull-Ups
- 21 Back squats @ 65lbs
- 15 Toes to Bar
- 9 HSPUs
Not sure if it was the fact that I stuffed my face with two pumpkin muffins and blackberries before I headed to the box or the fact that I haven’t hit the rig in a while. Let’s just say after round one I had to head outside…
Feeling nauseous during a WOD is possibly the worst feeling ever. Surprisingly, I cranked out the RX back squats like a champ (crediting my olys), but the pull-ups and toes to bar did me in. It was the longest 16 minutes and 30 seconds of my life.
I usually survive a nasty, uncomfortable workout with the help of a solid playlist. Unfortunately for the 7am class, the music was not on point. I’ll admit, I’m a workout music snob, always listening to the latest (sometimes unreleased) tunes. Jams from last summer (or lame Nelly jams) are not the business.
Am I blaming my pukie performance on the music selection? Of course, not. I see this as an opportunity to educate my fellow fitness enthusiasts on proper beast mode music.
What’s at the top of my playlist right now? Mr. Calvin Harris. These three tracks are legit. Take a listen:
You’re welcome.
The day isn’t completely skewed though, I received a new protein treat in the mail today.
I’m looking forward to testing this out in the mornings, especially now that I know I need to avoid solid food before WODs.
What do you eat before early morning workouts? And what is your favorite jam right now?
