Today’s a glorious start to another week and I’m in an exceptional mood today. Had a fairly boring weekend, but at least it forced me to relax and recharge–everyone needs bum weekend here and there…
This morning kicked off with a solid day of snatches. I know non-Crossfitters find this term perverted, but as you’ll quickly learn–most terms will make you giggle…
Via NorCal Crossfit:
- Find your 1 rep max snatch
- Isabel: 30 snatches for time
For some reason, I feel like such a ninja doing this lift. It is such a complicated movement, yet when done right, feels fluid and powerful.
Seeing that I have some sort of issue hitting a full squat with heavier weight, I decided to work on my technique instead of climbing to my max. The key thing for me is to queue my hips for more lift–allowing more space/time to get under the bar. Most of the time I just want to straight power snatch that shit. Unfortunately, this totally holds me back from loading more wait…dang it!
I’m officially counting down the days until we travel down to the Crossift mecca, the 2012 Crossfit Games. This trip is seriously making me feel like a kid getting ready to go to summer camp: packing, planning and mentally preparing for the crazy fit bodies. This weekend will mark my the first time attending the Games and I couldn’t be more excited to blog about the experience.
Most importantly, I’ll be with the NorCal crew cheering on our very own 2008 Crossfit Games champ, Jason Khalipa, as he fights for his second fittest man title. I’ll do my best to capture all the action in between screaming my head off.
Four more days…
