Today is Dave’s 26th birthday!! We’re usually in Las Vegas this weekend celebrating and kicking off the Fourth of July holiday, but we’re bringing the party back to the Bay Area this year.
I always try to make birthdays extra special and today is no exception–in honor of Dave’s birthday I did my first double under. Haha ok, obviously it wasn’t planned for this specific day, but it’s kind of cool that I pulled it off this morning.
DUs and I have been struggling to get along for the past five months. There have been times when frustration got the best of me and I would chuck the rope across the room. I couldn’t even get ONE. It felt like a mental block, like my brain was just not going to allow this to happen for me. Well, it finally clicked this morning and I was able to string two together. You’re probably thinking that’s weak sauce, but that is a HUGE victory for me. Now I know I can do it and I can grow from here. Honestly, I feel like baller now. Haha.
Here’s a video so you know what the hell I’m talking about:
Spealler makes it look like cake, but trust me–it’s not.
After my DU triumph we tackled one of the more difficult WODs we’ve had in a while:
- 3 rounds of 25 2-1 wall balls, 50 DUs or attempts (for babies like me)
- Rest two minutes
- 5 rounds of 20 wall balls, 25 KB swings
This was brutal. I was dying and barely made the 25 minute cut off (24 min). Overall, a great way to end the week, start the weekend and get ready to party tonight with all our friends.
