I have a filling this week is going to wrap-up quickly. Yes, it is only Tuesday, but the hours keep whizzing by. Maybe it’s because of all the excitement surrounding the Olympics? I don’t know about you, but I feel like such a slug reading the updates from my cube…
I’ll be honest and say I was reluctant to go to Crossfit this morning. The second I woke up, I felt the revenge of back squats and lunges. Boy, is my booty hurtin’.
Today’s WOD was hodgepodge of movements, none of them my favorite, but fun nonetheless:
- 10 HSPU with bands
- 20 Box Jump (24)
- 30 Wall Ball (20/14)
- 40 Sumo Deadlift High Pull (75/45lbs)
- 30 Wall Ball
- 20 Box Jump
- 10 HSPU
Let me first say that attempting HSPUs with band is incredibly fun and (as I demonstrated in this morning’s class), provides you with the ability of recreating some sick MJ moves.
I’m slowly building my confidence with box jumps and the sumo deadlift high pulls hurt with every rep. Overall, the workout went by pretty quick and I managed to finish at 9:45.
Tomorrow, NorCal Crossfit will be kicking off a Whole30 Challenge (with the rest of the Whole9 community) and I’m surprisingly pumped for it. I feel educated about the science behind the approach and believe it will provide greater insight into how my body reacts to certain foods. Here’s a short overview of the what the program is all about.
My biggest obstacles will be avoiding alcohol and cheese–the rest the restrictions are already ingrained into my daily eats; however, I love me some wine and cheese. I have to thank Dave in advance for putting up with my roller coaster ‘tude until September…
Dining out will also be a struggle and I can’t help but think this is how I’ll be when ordering of the menu:

“Did he have friends?” 🙂
Conveniently, I’ll start the month-long challenge with a body fat test conducted by Fitness Wave. I’m anxious to see the initial stats, but even more excited to see the results at the end of 30 days. Yes, I will be posting before/after pictures, and NO, I’m not looking forward to it, but I need to see visual results after all the “suffering”…
Stay tuned!
