You can find this info in About–but seeing that this all very new, let’s make the introduction official.
My name is Kelly, but my family name Belle stuck around, so let’s just go with that. This is my blog about my adventures of as an average Crossfitter. I started Crossfit in February 2012 and I decided to create this site to document my struggles and triumphs of Crossfit.
Born and raised in the Bay Area, I’ve been an athlete since I started playing soccer when I was four. Soccer was my main passion until I branched out to softball when I was nine and I continued as a two-sport athlete until midway through high school. Long story short, I had dreams of making soccer my profession until a knee injury cut my career short during my last year of high school.
Fast forward a few years to 2010 when I met the love of my life, Dave. He is quite possibly the most amazing man on the planet–yes, I’m biased, but he truly is an incredible human being in countless ways and he is the reason why I got into Crossfit.
You see, when I met him I was fully submersed in my career and had lost the passion for an active lifestyle–I was slowly turning into a Silicon Valley slug (you know what I’m talking about). After a little over two years of sharing workouts and YouTube tutorial videos, I finally found the nerve to take a sip of the Crossfit koolaid and cautiously signed up for the On-Ramp class at NorCal Crossfit. One class was all it took for me. I was hooked.
Like most Crossfitters, I instantly started immersing myself in the community both on and offline–but, what I started to notice was most of the Crossfit blogs, journals, etc., were from the athletes who are at the top of their game, “the elite” and struggled relating to someone’s journey that’s like mine, average. Obviously, as an athlete I strive to improve in every way, but I want my journey to be documented from the very start and to hopefully motivate others.
I have to admit–while admiring “the elite”my feelings usually lead down a path of discouragement, “how could I ever get that good?”, but then I quickly think, “they had to start at square one like me, right?!”. Ultimately, my goal for this blog is to show what it’s really like at square one and share some of my personal life-moments in between.
Stay tuned.
-Belle
